Fr. Primitivo Viray, Jr., SJ (Fr. Jun), Father Provincial of the Philippine Jesuit Province announced that Fr. Peter Pojol, SJ will be the new Socius for the Province. Fr. Peter will succeed Fr. Bill Abbott, SJ, who served for 21 years as Socius to five provincials. Fr. Bill will continue in his role as Province Secretary.
Prior to his appointment as Socius, Fr. Peter is the Director of East Asian Pastoral Institute in the Ateneo de Manila Campus. He has a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, master’s degrees in philosophy and pastoral ministry (Ateneo de Manila University) and the STB (Loyola School of Theology) and an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. His areas of interest are Fundamental Moral Theology, Sexual Ethics, Bioethics, and Pastoral Moral Theology.
